What is Sublimation printing Technology?
What is Sublimation printing and how is it applied?
Sublimation is a solid form material when exposed to the heat transforms directly into Gas form.
Sublimation printing technology is that designs that are printed on Sublimation paper by application of heat presses transfers to the other materials such as fabrics, wood, mugs etc.
Materials that can be sublimated
All the products that contains Polyester such as Fabrics, Ceramical products (mugs), Metals (Plastic products such as Key chains, pens, phone cases) Flags, Curtains and scarves can be sublimated.

WHERE SUBLIMATION PRINTING PAPER IS USED?
- All the Products that contains Polyester.
- Sport accessories and Jersey textiles
- Advertising and promotional products
- Home textile and decorative products
The feature of Sublimation transfer paper
- with high quality of transferring release rate, AFYA Sublimation paper put forward its competitiveness and quality.
- Sublimation paper provides consumers and textile producers to decrease their production time and increase their competitiveness.
- Offers high quality with low cost.
Definition of Sublimation technique;
Solid form material when exposed to high temperature turn into directly Gas form without being liquid. This technique is the essential core of Sublimation printing. Sublimation inks as Solid form printed on paper during transferring onto fabric with help of high temperature. it transforms directly into Gas form and the Gas form of Ink sticks to the fabric. There you can design and print easily on polyester based fabrics.
The Process Of Sublimation Printing Has 2 Main Phases:
Requested design that is desired to be printed on paper prepared and printed on Afya Sublimation paper.
Afterwards with the help of calender heat press or equivalent heat presses are used to transfer the prepared designed on polyester fabric.
The process can be done with specially designed and produced disperse dye materials. Sublimation dye Inks are composed of micro particals in the form of solid.
Designs are made by Sublimation printers with Sublimation inks onto Sublimation transfer papers that can be placed on particular surfaces that you want the designs to be transferred and transferring can be made by Heat Press machines under certain tempetures.
The application which is made by heat press machines, converts micro particals that are solid forms into Gas form by skipping over liquid phase. The dye that are Gas form that is pressed with the surface of fabric you want the designs to be transferred, absorbed by fabric. So Sublimation printing process is finalized by that.

IMPORTANT NOTE
in the process of transferring, the fabric or material should be produced of synthethic (Polyester, Polyamid) or coated of Polymer, otherwise the Inks that are gas form during heat press cannot be stick to the pressed material in order to dye the material.
The materials should be composed of Polyester, Polyamid or 60% synthethic fabric.
- Pre-designed, ready to use sublimation papers
- Customized sublimation papers, requested designs to be printed on machines
Sublimation transferring technology is extensively used in Textile industry, has 2 type of heat pressing
- Flat-bed Heat press that are pressed particular piece of size of Fabric
- Calender press that are pressing industrial
For high volume of production, Calender heat Press machines are being used. This type of Heat Press is composed of heating rolls that squeezing the transfer paper and fabric to each other during transferring and the temperature is between 190 to 230 celsus degree.
Temperature and duration of Sublimation printing
Application of Sublimation transfer is variable depending on Fabric, paper and Ink but commonly usage of temperature is between 190-225 celsus degree and between 20 sec. to 45 sec.
The lower temperature would need longer time transferring on heat machine. By testing used materials can determine the duration of transferring and required heat of Press machine.
Quality of Sublimation Transfer
Excellent vibrant colors are acquired with Sublimation printing technology. Printed materials are highly durable to the external factors. When sublimated materials are used avoiding direct exposure of sun light, can be used long term without any fading and wear and tear.
The products that will always be exposed to sun light, should be coated with materials in order to increase durability of UV.
As Quality of Ink is important to acquire high quality of colors but also quality of Sublimation paper is significant roll in transferrinng colors. As a result of that using high quality of Afya Sublimation paper will save you time, Money loss and high quality results at the end of transferring.
